Screams "Replacements" to me. Nice song, and not corny at all... which admittedly was a fear of mine due to the title.
Did Emerald post this? (looking at the YT account name).

Yes? No?
Yeah I was sitting in my room all along 'cause the innocence is gone And I smashed the only radio because it never played any songs I was tired of working hard for other people's dreams to come true So I smoked my last cigarette and headed out into the night Yeah the last hot The last hot night, the last hot night in America It's the last hot night, the last hot night in the world It's the last hot night, the last hot night in America And I'm looking for you Yeah, I'm looking for you
Yeah, the future's full of lovers and intentions (??), anger and lust And I dialed the only number, the only number I knew I could trust And if it's coming to an end, you know I'm going to feel alive one last time And if I don't hear from you, you know I'm gonna keep looking all night Yeah the last hot The last hot night, the last hot night in America It's the last hot night, the last hot night in the world It's the last hot night, the last hot night in America And I'm looking for you Yeah, I'm looking for you
You're the only good thing, the only good thing inside my soul And I'm gonna take a chance on the edge 'cause I'm losin' control Of everything I know
Silence broke when I saw your face again Crash of life came rushing through my veins Yeahhhhhh It's the last hot night, the last hot night in America It's the last hot night, the last hot night in the world It's the last hot night, the last hot night in America And I'm looking for you Yeah, I'm looking for you Looking for you Yeah, I'm looking for you It's the last hot night in America

Sooooo, mortals... what does everyone think? Am I the only one excited enough to share my feelings?
I don't love the song or anything, but if this is the direction of the new album then I'm pretty stoked. It's a fun, solid (if perhaps forgettable) little tune.

I'm a bit confused with this song. For some reason I'm not really digging it BUT I'm blaming that on the huge amount of echo, because I do think this is a great opener! The first seconds into the concert I was like, wtf, that's a weird intro for Stay With You? Especially the beginning has some SWY sauce over it.. and that's not a bad thing, I always loved SWY live, because it's so loud and rocks so much. I hope to hear a better/different version today or tomorrow.

I've only listened to it once today, on my phone in the train, so the quality was kinda crappy, but at that point it didn't do much for me. Will have to listen to it again (or maybe a couple more times) to really form an opinion. So far: not impressed.

Personally, I liked it very much.
When I heard a bit of it on the Fox 19, I was like, 'uh oh, don't care for that bit...hope the full song's better' but hearing the proper full version, I enjoyed it. It's going in the right direction and by god, it's not chalk full of GGD-isms (there are some, but no where near as many as ATYA so I'm damn happy).
I really liked the line, 'And I smashed the only radio because it never played any songs.' I feel like that's a clever jab at today's manufactured pop music.

So.... They *did* open with this? Okay... I don't think it's the best opener, which is mostly because it's unknown, but I still totally dig this.
I'm not super-familiar with Replacements' entire catalog, so not sure how much I agree with ya, Cubed, but I like the feel of this regardless. Funnily enough, all the noise I'm sensing coming from Korel, plus the bounciness, and slight old-school-awesomeness to it... makes me think of Everclear, but that's just me.
Anddd!!!! I like how Rzeznikisms are still here, at least thematically, but he's going about them in much different phrasing. Good job, John!

I immediately found the song's lyrics to match 1995 Rzeznik much more than 2011 Rzeznik because it seems to be that mash-alternative pop style they did a lot around 94-96 when they would cover songs like Don't Change and Wait for the Blackout. I especially like the radio line you mentioned.

I like it. Not sure I love it but I love the fact that it rocks. Keep em' coming like that for a while, puhleeze. Great comment about it having SWY sauce on it.
