I was talking with stoptheworld yesterday about photography and she said it would be fun to open a topic about the subject here. I know Esther's taking classes in photography at the moment and I'm just figuring out the basics. Anyone else here into photography? I bought an Olympus E-420 D-SLR camera last summer. I used it a few weeks later on holiday, and I used it last November at the Backstreet Boys concert, but that was all on auto-mode. I'm only just beginning to use others modes and manually adjust shutter speed and aperture and all. Here's my portfolio: www.flickr.com/photos/magnetronnie/And here's Esther's: www.flickr.com/photos/29344002@N06/

oh I love this idea! Photography is so cool! I'm still figuring things out too, but so far I've learned a lot! Unfortunately I only have 4 classes left.. My photography teacher told me to shoot concert photos in M. Maybe that'll help for the next time?

Fantastic shots, you guys! And thanks, Ronnie, for starting this thread. I really should go back to photography; it's one of my loves! I'll post some shots when I find them (yeah, it's been that long).

I like your Amsterdam canal shot Esther and the cool outdoor windmill and sky shots...Ronnie, my fave was the accidental shot of the girl peaking out from behind the paper and the GA concert shot of the crowd for Backstreet boys kind of scared me...I'd hate to be in the middle of all those people!

Thanks, that's my girlfriend btw. it was taken accidentally while trying out the camera on the same day I bought it. The BSB shot was intentional and yes, it turned out pretty well! It was taken in Ahoy, one of our main concert halls, it's much like the O2 arena in London, but a bit smaller. It holds about 10,000 people I think. Of which 5,000 are GA. I'm still in doubt whether I should bring my camera to my next concert in April. It's a small venue and they're tight with taking pictures, I'll probably get thrown out.

Thanks you guys! I really should get out more to take pictures though. I don't take enough time for it, eventhough I love doing it. Although I did just order a new lens, so I guess when I've got it in my hands, I'll be motived enough If you've got some pictures yourself, post them too! I'm very interested to see them ;D

Great thread! I love taking photographs, although I'm not overly technical about it and just have a decent point and shoot. I'll post some of my sunrise/sunset photos when I get home from uni tonight

Awww, thanks, Sue.
And Esther, I went on this little trip to the mountains with a few kids from school. Where I live, both the sea and the mountains are pretty much within reach, hihi. ;D
