aka: TA's night with Augustana and Counting Crows!!!
Okay, so, I just got home a few hours ago from 1,2,3Crow's Houston-stop. They played, oddly, at out Horse Racing Track, the Sam Houston Race Park, which has only started hosting concerts within the last three-ish years or so... And, they were presented by Bud Light, produced (but of course.) by LiveNation.
And, here's the thing... It was supposed to be a three-act show, but...
the other act canceled due to a busted appendix, ouch! Therefore, it was just Augustana and 1,2,3Crows.
Now, here's the thing: I love 1,2,3Crows. I really do.... They're in my Top 10, probably... But! I saw them with the Dolls back in '06, so... I was MUCH MORE excited, for this time, about Augustana, since I like them a lot, too.
And, OH. MY. GOD. did Augustana deliver!!!
(which, I'll admit.... Might just be me having my OMGAUGUSTANA!!!!goggles on...)
Anyhow... I'll make this brief...
3/5 of the show was played with both bands, i.e.: all 13 musicians, on stage, all together, playing and singing... I mean, really. Like... There were sometimes two or three guitarists... Two guys on tambourines.... Always!!! Adam and Dan (1,2,3 and Aug lead's, respectively) crooning to each other constantly... And, just all around camaraderie and awesomeness.
1/5 was left for Augustana to do their thing, and the other fifth for 1,2,3Crows... Who were just sweet as hell toward Augustana; just went on and on about how happy they've been to tour with them, and how they can't imagine touring without them... And Augustana, of course, were just as kind towards 1,2,3.
Briefly... and, from what I remember...
Augustana played: Boston, Sweet & Low, I Can't Get Over You, and Meet You there Someday, and Stars and Boulevards
1,2,3Crows played: Mrs. Potter's Lullaby, Rain King (which turned into some weird medley thing), Omaha, A Long December (one of my faves), La Balet Dor, You Can't Count on Me, Anna Begins (my Black Balloon of 1,2,3Crows), and ....um... Hard Candy
I know there's others, but... Like I said: It's what I can remember!
Anyhow, it was a wonderful night... I was concerned when I found out, beforehand, what the concert itself was going to be structured as... But, they pulled it off well, and there was nothing but love, music, and fun happening on that stage... It was fantastic.
...And, tomorrow, I'm off to the Woodlands to see Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp! Then I am DONE, DONE, DONE until... whenever the hell Goo comes around.
(oh, off-topic.... I'm kinda back, you guys.... I've got internet in my new room, so, yay!)
