I went to Destine yesterday, with four of my friends, and it was awesome. It was their last show of the tour, so that was pretty special.
Me and one friend (Charlotte) had e-mailed them if we could interview them for the schoolpaper, and Laurens (the keyboardplayer) said it was okay, and that we could interview him.
So, we went in, Charlotte and I bought a Destine shirt and waited around for the manager, who would pick us up to lead us to Laurens. When he arrived, he said that Tom (the bassplayer) would be there too, because he had nothing else to do, and thought it was fun.
The manager lead us the way through a very cool corridor. (where you could easily film a horrormovie. xD) And then suddenly, we saw Laurens! He introduced himself, and after that we went into a little chamber and there was Tom too! (I was really nervous at this point)
So we sat down, first took a picture from them with the schoolpaper, and then started to ask our questions. They were very nice, and very funny! After a while, the manager came in and said we had 2 minutes left, so we asked quick some more questions, and when he came in again he made a picture of us four. We said goodbye and thanked them, and we went to the place where the concert would be.
When we arrived, we figured that we missed the first band: MakeBelieve, but I didn't really care, because I heard some bad stories about them. (right, Esther? )
The second band began to play: Only Seven Left.
I only knew one song of them, but they were really good!
During their performance, a guy in a horsesuit came on stage. (And you can all imagine what it made me think of ) I already knew it had to be Tom, because when we were done with the interview, he said to his manager: Oh, I have to get my suit on!
After Only Seven Left came a Swedish band: You Ate My Dog (best name ever, lol!)
It was heavier than the other bands, and a bit too heavy for me! But they were pretty cool, the singer tried to stagedive, but it wasn't totally working, lol. (A lot of young girls in the audience)
Then finally, it was time for Destine!!!
They played almost all the songs from their CD, and also a song from their EP, and a cover: Down.
During Down, we were all asked to sit down on the ground, and when the chorus would start we had to jump up! That was pretty cool, it must have looked awesome from their view!
They were really amazing! So much energy!
During one song, Laurens winked at me. (He recognized me from before.) And he also smiled a few times.
When they played their last song: In Your Arms, the bands who also played that night came on stage, and everyone from the crew too! This was because it was their last show. You could see that they were sad that it was over!
After the concert, me and Charlotte wanted their authographs and pictures, so we waited a bit, but they all came very soon!
We talked again with Laurens and Tom, we told Tom that we knew that he was the horse, and he was like: "Oh shit, I shouldn't have said that, I gave it away." xD
I also went on the picture with everyone of You Ate My Dog. They also signed a guitarpic they threw in the audience, and that I could get off the ground. xD
We talked with them a bit, we let them say some Dutch things. (they actually knew quite a few words)
We got pictures with almost everyone, and then we left, it was an amazing night, and they are all such nice guys!
Here are some of the pics, I've got some trouble with the others:
