Every year on May 4th we remember Dutch people that died during all the wars we fought, mainly WW2 deaths, and a few thousand people come to the Dam square in Amsterdam to be silent for 2 minutes and hear our national anthem after that. The Queen and the royal family is also there, as well as most ministers. We had an incident last year during Queensday with a maniac driving at high speed right into a group of people who were watching the Queen drive by. He killed about 10 people I believe. So people in our country are tense and afraid someone else is gonna try something in public again. Well it kinda happened again.. some guy was shouting for a while, you can't hear that in the movie, but then you can hear a safety fence falling to the ground and people are in panic. So far only a dozen orso people have been injured.. broken bones mostly.. but people from the crowd are telling it was very scary and people were falling down, children losing their mother/father, and elderly who couldn't get away fast enough. It shows how dangerous mass panic can be in a huge crowd.

I still can't believe this happened.. and literally across the street from me! (if I walk for 3 minutes, I'm right there on Dam Square) These things remind you of all the crazy shit that's been going on.. Last year the incident with the car where several people died, this.. and then the stuff in other countries, like Poland and the Timesquare thing. It's a scary world we live in. I just forget sometimes..

That was scary what happened with the car the other year...how horrible...
I tend to avoid large crowds like this because the thought of mass panic and being trapped and crushed kind of freaks me out...
I'm sorry that your Remembrance Day has taken been taken over by a few crazies...Hopefully next year things will be better.

Yes, he is a drug addict and caused scenes in public before.
There's also footage from people standing close to were he was arrested. About 10 police officers were dragging him away and at the same time someone dropped a case on accident, people panicked a bit, and someone shouted "bomb!" and everyone started running.
But what's really interessting about this footage is that people very close to were it all started only ran / walked fast for like 5-10 meters and then stopped when they realized there wasn't really anything wrong. But people standing 30-50 meters from there really had to run for their lives not to be ran over by the crowed. It's like a big wave that's increasing in speed.

Man, scary stuff. I was at softballcamp, and we had the radio on, so we knew when to be quiet. And suddenly we heard weird noises and the commentator started talking again. It was so weird! I didn't really know what happened untill yesterday. Thanks for the video Ronnie.

You wanna hear something really funny? (this is only funny for Ronnie and Judith though, because you have to understand what the Noord-zuidlijn is and what it has done to Amsterdam) - my mom told me this story.. when they said "bomb" that was because there was a briefcase (and they didn't know whom it belonged to, so they assumed in all the panic that it was a bomb), so a police officer on a horse got the briefcase and ran away with it on the horse.. Then, to 'save the people' he threw it in the Noord-Zuidlijn tunnel XD Imagine what would have happened if it really was a bomb? hahahahaha! When my mom told this to the "wethouders" (what's that in English?) they all couldn't stop laughing and said "Then we would have finally gotten rid of that damn thing" XD I guess it would have been a good solution to the problem? but then we would have wasted even more money
