You must be referring to Julia Roberts. Yes, her & Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings. The casting seemed jarring to me in both instances. Fave Hugh Grant (real life) quote, "I used to be quite dishy, but now I get doggier every day!" LOL (I use that one all the time)

lol yeah I love that movie.. haven't read the books though.
Btw those grades are just based on how much I liked a movie. If I had to give grades based on how good a movie is then Irréversible, Komt een vrouw bij de dokter and Der Untergang would get a 10.

I've really liked everything that Kevin Spacey has starred in...Right now I'm looking for more of his dvds to rent... Oh Sue, do not miss L.A. Confidential, a fave film & my fave Spacey performance. I read James Ellroy, but I gotta admit this film is much less hard work Also, TA, or anyone who liked The Departed, did you think Colin & Billy were supposed to both be sons of Costello? That's my theory anyway. And Madolyn's baby was Billy's??

Madolyn's baby totally had to be Billy's. At least I always got that impression That movie made me wholeheartedly love Leo again...he was brilliant in it. And funnily enough it eroded my Matt Damon appreciation. And Marky Mark. Could they have casted that role any better? I'm not 100% agreed on the sons of Costello thing though - I always thought that Matt's character might have been, but not Leo's Yep. I am quite the fan of The Departed! Lol ;D

SPOILER ALERT!! DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE DEPARTED!! Lol ;D I think that Billy & Colin being half brothers would complete the duality theme of the film very nicely. I particularly liked, as well as all the other examples, that both Billy & Colin had fellow moles that they were unaware of (plus of course the big one, that Frank's a mole too. Oh wait, maybe that they have the same girl is bigger. Oh, those Billy/Madolyn scenes! The romance! The angst!). And remember, at Billy's mother's funeral, there was a Catholic devotional card from Frank on her casket (talk about a clue!). There was apparently a scene or two from Billy's childhood too, ones that included his mother, that were cut because of length (the actress that played her still got a credit). I think the big failure of the film is that the passage of time was never believable. It's kinda of a mess in other ways too, mostly from being edited down to a reasonable length and Nicholson chewing up the scenery, but I still love it. Someday I wanna see a Director's Cut. I know what you mean about Matt Damon, his character is so lame and insipid at his core that it ends up attaching to the actor. But Leo, OMG, I haven't loved him this much since Romeo + Juliet. Every second that he's on screen is brilliant. He's got 4 films in production & 22 (count 'em!) in development, so I plan on being happy for a long, long time. I liked Wahlberg in the film, I wasn't quite sure if you did or not. They shouldn't have cast his brother Robert as the FBI guy though, the family resemblance is too strong. Same with Bill & Brian Murray in Groundhog Day. I think we want the baby to be Billy's, but I also think we're not supposed to know. Maybe it's Colin's & she's going straight from Billy's funeral to the abortionist's. She was so cold in her last scene. I think if the baby had been Billy's Madolyn whould have walked by Colin & then smiled to herself or something to give us some indication... P.S. Have you seen the "Inception" trailers? OMG www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2106065945/

Di, I adored Mark in the Departed - but I am a fan of his anyway I just think he was so perfect for that particular role - entirely believable in it. I have seen the Inception trailer, but just once. Not doubt I'll be going to see at the theatre when it finally arrives...and I still need to see Shutter Island, which just looked amazing (but my slack butt missed it at the cinema). Also, back on the departed, now that you mention that about the flowers at the funeral, I can kind of see where you are coming from...indeed you could be correct I'd love to see a director's cut as well, just to see if it fleshes out the back story I watched Red Dragon tonight for the 50 millionth time (my favourite hyperbole ). I'm gonna add that to my list.

Yesterday I watched Zombieland and I liked it! It's going to my list. And, gosh, I don't know how I forgot to put Disturbia in my list. It's one of my favorite movies EVER.
