that site said "more political t-shirts" so I'm not sure about this trend.
I think this is just accident but you know... I'm learning about things like this in school and on my own too because I'm interesting in politics, things about society a little bit so this shirt reminds me of symbol of communism etc

The red star on black can be a symbol of communism and more especially socialism but that is hardly known in the US (the hammer & sickle denote communism to most Americans). Soviet era designs are thought of as hip by some, although I understand that must seem very crass to people who suffered under that regime. But for most people here it's just an attractive design without any historical or political associations whatsoever.

and it's an example of difference beetwen Poland and USA. Polish could say "he is so strange/stupid/controversial because he wore a shirt like that" but as you wrote - in USA it's just an attractive design so I've wanted to know it... so thank you I was born after this communism era, after 1989 so I know it only from books and stories but... it leaves one's stamp on us. this is really important to get erudition about these things because Polish teenagers are not interesting in history (it's so bad) and it's great to know how people in US are receiving it. sorry for mistakes

Thank you for putting up the topic. It was interesting and fun to see all the pictures and to see how people in other countries perceive certain symbols.

I have to say that I, too, have been enjoying this thread. It's always interesting to know how other countries perceive these things as I have only lived in the U.S. and have never even been to another country (unless you count Canada). Thanks for starting this thread...it's a cool topic!

Polish could say "he is so strange/stupid/controversial because he wore a shirt like that" LOL, I think John would be totally gob-smacked to know that!

but it's only t-shirt, not mind-ideology! it's typical here that everything from star/music/celebrity world is criticized. we've got million gossip-portals. but people don't give a shit
