I like that their title is still playing on the slight carnival theme they had goin' on for their tour of their last effort... That's pretty cool.

The titles for the album and single are cool, but GDI. This is annoying time-wise.

Well, I don't know much about Lifehouse, but I do find it annoying how I hear release after release coming this fall (and some prominent Warner Bros. ones like Paramore) and knowing that Warner Bros. kind of dissed the Goo Goo Dolls by delaying them, and delaying them and then giving them a full on winter time slot...I know Warner Bros. is having financial problems and some job shuffling, but it would be nice if they showed more faith in the Dolls...At least that's what it looks like from where I'm sitting...I don't know why else they would delay it...

THIS. THIS. THIIIIIIIS. Seriously, for once in their goddamn career I wish that they'd bump their release up. Seriously, there is no fucking reason why they can't if they're not gonna do a promo tour by the sounds of Mike's answer. I mean, if WBR isn't gonna promote them either way, then why not have it this year?

Okay... And, not to put the spotlight on anyone, but... AHEM.
Does anyone know anything about the Dolls' contract with WBR, a la time-wise? As in, is there an expiration date on it...?

I mean, if WBR isn't gonna promote them either way, then why not have it this year? So, you don't think that they'll have a promo tour at all? I'll have to go and listen to Mike's answer again...I was thinking that they might still have one in January, but that does seem like an odd time to have a promo tour... I'm with you in wishing that WBR treated them like they still had some promise in them, and not like they're on their last legs, like they do with tv shows when they move them to Friday nights...It's almost as if they are pushing them to go indie sometimes, or that they are indifferent to if they stay...Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it would be nice if they treated them like some of their other artists like Green Day...I think there is a bit of ageism going on too, like they are in their 40's and have been together for so long, so there is only so much they can achieve and sell...

We'll just wait and see I suppose. I have faith that Goo and Co still have some tricks up their sleeves...

Wow. Talk about taking the same leaf out of the same book. Read for yourselves from LH's newly inked bio on their site:
'With Smoke & Mirrors, Lifehouse’s fifth studio album, lead singer/guitarist Jason Wade, drummer Rick Woolstenhulme, bassist Bryce Soderberg and newly added guitarist Ben Carey, along with long time producer Jude Cole, have created a set that combines their live sound with great record making.
Smoke & Mirrors started out with a mission to capture the live, rock side of the band; a sound they had perfected after three years of solid touring. Songs like “Smoke & Mirrors,” “Wrecking Ball” and “Had Enough” (with guest vocals by Chris Daughtry) have a very raw and stage driven feel to them. However, after living with the early tracks and experimenting with others, a piece of the puzzle seemed to be missing.
Equal to their enthusiasm for the live sound, they also love to make studio records. After all, one of Lifehouse’s greatest achievements is the tens of millions of radio spins garnered over the span of 4 albums, so to create a record solely focusing on the sound from their show felt off balance.
A trip back into the studio to experiment in more of a ‘record making’ effort produced tracks like “All In,” “Here Tomorrow Gone Today” and the first single “Halfway Gone” co written by Kevin Rudolf (Let it Rock). Songs sure to be heard on radio for years to come.
With this light hearted concept and fitting title, Smoke & Mirrors properly defines the best that Lifehouse has to offer, showcasing a band that not only makes hit records but can rock a stage! '
